 LASUSU CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Lagos State University Students’ Union (LASUSU) Champions League is an initiative sporting event played by all faculties in Lagos State University. It is a football competition which brings together all the best football teams from all the ten faculties of the University.
The teams eligible to participate in the game are the winners and the runners-up of the ‘Dean’s Cup’ played at the faculty level in each of the faculties. The ten winners of the Dean's Cup automatically qualified for the champions League while the ten runners-up battled it out via play-offs where five winners of the play-offs including the best looser joined the initial qualified ten to participate in the champions league proper.
The qualified sixteen (16) teams slug it out against each other in the ‘Round of sixteen’ which is a single match elimination mode (knock-out), thereafter, winning teams from each of the eight matches get pitted accordingly against each other in quarterfinals, winners from the four matches played move straight into the semi-finals while the defeated teams are eliminated. The winners of the semi-finals head straight into the final however, the two losing sides in the semi-final stage will get involved in the loser’s final – third place match.  
This league brings into circle the best football teams from all the faculties and it serves as a platform to scout for student-footballers who could as a result play and represent the school football team. This year’s Champions League commences 24th November and draws its curtains 4th December, 2014, 12pm daily. On its final day, we hope to have top Nigerian footballers in attendance, Medias, the Commissioner of Sports and the likes. This is one of the students union's medium of serving her members better.
